The Bologna Motor Show closes down: all the fault of the car manufacturers?
GL Events, organizer of the event, which celebrated every December to collect fans motorettari Bologna, has officially renounced the organization of the Motor Show 2013. The reason stated in the press release issued by Facebook page is the low participation of Motor Manufacturers:
“Dear all,
vi comunichiamo che the thirty-eighth edition of the Bologna Motor Show has been canceled. The motivation of GL Events, event organizer, sta nella total absence of car manufacturers, centerpiece of a motor show. The absence of the market, therefore urges us to cancel the edition 2013 the salone, both out of respect for the public at the Motor Show, sia per work productively and concrete future eventsthat they can rely again on the massive presence in the industry. GL Events has invested in a major way in the last 6 years to ensure the only Italian Automobile Salon and to give support to the auto industry in a country that by 2007 has lost more than 50% del mercato automobilistico. GL Events intends to continue to operate in our country in order to offer an event to the expectations of investors and the public, which over the years has never failed to lend its support.”
Per me, as I think for many other automotive enthusiasts, the Motor Show did not represent only a fixture in the calendar of events, but a date engraved in the memory of those years when everything seemed possible. I am referring to the eighties and early nineties, I still brat when I was taken by the father to stay in Bologna under the spell of bombastic stand Marlboro, bewitched by the long legs of the flight attendants and intoxicated by the opportunity to touch all those… real bikes!
I must also say that, as well as many fond memories, the Motor Show it is also that appointment that I decided to snub a while’ of years to this part, because uninteresting. So who's to blame? Because many others like me are no longer went to the Motor Show? The truth is that the Motor Show is dead and buried for years. The fault was the absence of the Houses, or lack of clarity / ability / good fortune to those who organize and that perhaps has lost some’ by the time the pulse of the situation?
Then, if we want, we can always blame the crisis.
For me, the Motor Show has been for years a wonderful memory, but in fact it was already a memory.
