The Six Days of Varese and. 2018 – Moto tour

Are you looking for a route to do on the bike to discover Varese? Why not follow that of the reenactment of the legendary Six-Day 1951? Eccolo.

When you go to Varese in motion?

A great way to discover the area of Varese It is to follow the route that I have done on the fly during the VII Historical Commemoration of the Six Days of Varese. Every year for this commemoration the Auto Moto Club of Varese Historical itinerary changes, a luxury we can afford as the area has many scenic and historic attractions especially related to the world of motorcycles.

What you see is the edition itinerary 2018 which it took place on 22 September and to which I attended riding the Suzuki GS550 1980 that you see in the picture.

Distance and roads

It is an itinerary suitable for any bike and all displacements and age. The distance of 140 km also it makes it suitable for an electric motorcycle of those most capable. In any case in area it is set to be recharged. Not particularly difficult, although care must be taken to the very narrow in places Careggi, especially to reach the above Maccagno Step Forcora and even more on Pass Cuvignone.

Caution is always required in Campo dei Fiori area for the presence of many cyclists, the waterfront and the city center of Varese for getting enough traffic.

What to see in Varese in motion?

The center of Varese, the production of AMOUNT Motorcycles, Lake Maggiore, the view from Forcora towards the lake, the way to Arcumeggia in Campo dei Fiori, l’hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso.

The route soon

The Old Town Varese It deserves at least the time of a walk. We can drink a good cup of coffee before you get in gear and make the second stop at the AMOUNT Motorcycles in Cassinetta di Biandronno.

A stop in the Cadrezzate Lake Monate It can be another opportunity for a break before reaching Ispra and the Lake Maggiore.

Going up the east coast of the lake if we have time we can stop all’Santa Caterina del Sasso, but it must be remembered that left the bike there to walk, so better be comfortable both in clothing and in the time available.

The route continues along the lake and leads us to Laveno and then to Luino the centers that offer greater possibilities in terms of catering and accommodation, but also the most traffic.

Continuing we reach Maccagno where we take the road climbing brings us to enjoy beautiful views of the lake. We climb up to Pian del Lares where we find a great farm. Transiting for Forcora Pass and begin the descent overview bend after bend that brings us back to Maccagno.

We expect a little more’ road, more enjoyable as they we enter, and we leave the lake, before making another stop to look in the middle of the thick forest Cittiglio waterfalls. We are on the narrow road of the Passo del Cuvignone.

We go up to Arcumeggia and then cross on a pretty fast and well-paved road the Regional Park Campo dei Fiori.

Before entering the center of Varese, worth a detour the Sacred Mountain. The road is beautiful and the view over the city pays us for having stretched. From here we go back down and within minutes we are back in the industrious center of Varese.
