Metzeler Racetec RR is the new super sports tire presented by trademark elephant. I was invited to the launch and… I tell you.
Metzeler I was invited to the presentation of the new international Racetec RR. And it is already WOW. Waiting for, there were the circuit of Almeria e tante belle BMW S1000RR edition 2015 equipped with the three compounds of the new tire for super sports brand Italian-German. And here the WOW abound.
Unfortunately, however,, things did not go exactly as planned. Misfortune – or rather as an unexpected disruption rude weather – prevented us to test the new Racetec RR, evolution of the already known and appreciated Racetec Interact (Here the video that I realized to launch in 2011 Cartagena). I Have To, therefore, postpone the time when I can actually express the characteristics – the expectations are very high! – New Racetec RR until a later date, and today I will introduce you briefly but as it should.
Back to our Racetec RR. I promised you that I would have presented properly, so here I am.
The new tire dedicated geeks discerning, is available in three compounds: Soft this K1, intermedia this K2 e Hard K3. In all three cases, to lead the team of research and development of Metzeler there have been the desire to provide a product able to offer grip in all road conditions, precision driving, stability and consistent performance even on long journeys.
Unfortunately on Almeria, where it never rains, fell unexpected and although the flood – especially with the compound K3 – the new Racetec RR allows driving on wet, the conditions would not allow me to really appreciate the talents, but only to risk a bad shape as rider. We have therefore decided to postpone the dynamic test because my judgment – like that of other professionals – would not be fully trusted.
The development of the new Racetec RR could benefit from the experience of direct Metzeler in Road Races, in which only 2014 obtained 39 podiums and 16 victories on circuits difficult parts such as the North West 200, Metzeler the Ulster GP, Southern 100 and the legendary Isle of Man TT. It is, as known, of the race track very difficult to factors such as the high mileage, high speed medium, the change in altitude and temperature, and the variety of the road far from perfect. Here is why the new profiles, the materials of the structure, compounds and also the tread pattern have been designed to obtain a tire capable of resisting and long, not only going strong.
Racetec RR is aimed at both those driving the bike on the track at the professional level, both amateurs and the occasional pistaioli, then in general it is a product that affects the geeks who love sport driving on faired and naked because it can also be used on the road, not only in the circuit.
Going into technical, it is a tire bimescola with structure “Cap and Base” ie the center compound – made to endure longer and less heat – supports the side – on the contrary made to give grip – positioning the substrate tread. In this way the heat which develops on the long straights and which typically heats the central area and not lateral, is better distributed. With this solution also mixes side should better maintain the operating temperature even after a long straight. Obviously, the mixing process of the compounds exists the highest privacy, but we ensure that provide high abrasion resistance thanks to the homogeneous dispersion of the components and that the compounds are more versatile than in the past.
In summary we
K1 which is the SOFT, therefore particularly suited for the hot asphalt
K2 is the INTERMEDIATE, the compromise
K3 HARD is so dedicated to using non-competitive and any temperature, in any graded asphalt with a mileage top.
The innovative material used in the carcass structure it elevates the lateral stiffness while minimizing the fluctuations that trigger on the straights and, at last, and left hat profiles have been designed to absorb the roughness and at the same time dampen, without generating oscillations, deformations of the impact.
