The Pursang electric reborn: first motorcycle in May

Dopo 4 decades back the name Pursang thanks to two very interesting electric bike to look and technical data. Conosciamole better.

Perhaps not many today, especially in Italy, remember the launch of the first Bultaco Pursang. It was the 1967 when the bike performed cross for the first time this name. Developed on the famous frame Metisse, enjoyed a certain popularity not only at home, at least until he passed away at the beginning of the Eighties.

History teaches us that when a name does eventually return, and in this we are learning how the new "electric wave" is constantly searching for roots to cling.

If you are interested in the topic I have spoken here.

That, oggi, We witness the return of Pursang that, nome a parte, It has little to do with the aforementioned ancestor if not the desire to be original and innovative. In wanting to pull your hair we can see how the new Pursang inspire you in some way that was and that we always like – or that segment extending it a bit 'we could call the scrambler – but it is a moto 100% elettrica the result of an interesting project ready to see the light ... literally.

Le prime 60 bikes are in fact planned for the month of May, then it was removed every mystery on the technical specifications. These are two different models for features and equipment.

The first is called Pursang E-Track, and is the most noble model, the second Pursang E-Street and the cheapest one. To differentiate not only the construction but also the technical sheet, let's see it better.

Pursang E-Track

It stands on the fly to the bodywork in carbon fiber. Below we find an aluminum tubular frame chrome molybdenum, but especially a motor 11 kW and a power unit from 7,2 kWh divided into 3 batteries 48 Volt. Autonomy declared in 160 km, maximum speed of 120 km/h and time of charging 6 and a half hours to normal 220v. The weight is 147 kg, the height of the saddle 815 mm, and the price is 13.700 Euro.

Pursang E-Street

The superstructures in this case are made of plastic and painted blueness which recalls that of the old Bultaco. Unlike carbon sister, Here we find two removable batteries 48 Volt for a total capacity of 3,2 kWh. Even the engine is less accurate: 8 kW power. Ne earn the charging time which are lowered in 5 more hours for the 220v, but, consequently, the autonomy is less: 100 km. The maximum speed is 100 km/h and weight stops 132 kg, while the price has been set at 8.700 Euro.

In both cases, the final drive chain is, the wheels are from 2,15 x 18 front and 4,25 x 18 at the rear and fitted as original equipment tires Pirelli Scorpion MT90 120/80 and 150/70.

What do you think of these Pursang?

In all honesty, the project seems interesting both from a purely stylistic point of view (recalls the Derbi Mulhacén but we hope to have more luck) and positioning (there is currently on the market a product that covers this range) both from a point of view of the relationship between cost and performance. It goes to thread, so to speak, tra la Super Soco TC Max – much cheaper and less performance – e la Zero Motorcycles DS a 11 kW, currently the most it fitted between the “125 electrical”. Personally I'm sorry there is not currently a somewhat version’ more powerful even though it is certainly apt choice to offer this engine to make inroads especially in a younger clientele. At that point, one would wonder why fishing the name Pursang, but we would enter into mere philosophical speculation. We await the arrival of the first units and see what you think the market.
