Today is a great day.
I have just returned from Padua, a beautiful city. And with the Christmas lights and the animosity of this holiday season if possible is even more full of charm.
I went shopping at the markets, however,! Otherwise I would be in contradiction with my last post. I went to see some friends together and give the kick-off of an important project.
And when I say important, I mean really really really important. An initiative that can lead to a real improvement in the lives of many people. We can save lives!! The idea gives me the creeps!
This project is called In Moto With Africa and the name says it all.
There's the bike, component of passion that unites us and not only as we shall see, and there l’Africa where we can still do much. And in the middle there's that “WITH“. That it is not a “PER” o un “PRO”, but just a “WITH”. So TOGETHER, beside, because only then you can have long-lasting and effective changes.
The bike as a means of salvation
The bike is often seen as an instrument of death rather than salvation. Yet with the bike we more alive than ever and we feel, as also experimented with the Mototerapia, the bike brings beneficial side effects.
The bike is therefore well. OK, until now we had arrived. But how can even save lives?
Some time ago Doctors With Africa – cuAmA (seventy years committed to improving health in Africa) They told my friend Michele Orlando (fondatore del Marco Polo Team and has been involved in solidarity projects) how the bike is very often the only means able to reach difficult points.
The bike is cheap, agile, is able to avoid obstacles that stop a 4×4, It can get where others dare not go into what is called “last mile”.
These small bikes become a sort of ambulance on two wheels, to go and get pregnant and carry them to give birth in hospital, to transport sick children in a health center or to bring doctors and vaccines to remote villages.
The objective of In Moto With Africa, therefore, is to equip Doctors with Africa - Cuamm momentum that, in various parts of Africa, can cover that last mile and thereby save lives.
In the last year, in via sperimentale, It has started a fundraiser to purchase these bikes and ambulances, again, The Italian riders were able to give proof of great generosity: You have already purchased the first 26 moto!
An incredible achievement that convinced us to support this project with even greater determination.
