Why BMW and KTM (and who knows who else) waive salons?

In this vlog an instant reflection of what was announced in the last hours by BMW and KTM on their absence from the halls 2020.

The coronavirus is really the real reason why BMW and KTM – after perhaps compared – They have announced to give the international shows 2020? Or is it rather a great assist to do what they had not yet had the courage to do that is to cut a big expense that does not bring the results of the past?

I share my quick reflection on what is happening.

The BMW waiver.

The waiver by KTM.

  1. Hello, I agree that in the salons of the last few years it is practically impossible to participate I have had the good fortune to spend more than a decade of EICMA participating in it as “sector operator” to sgamo with absolute pleasure in being able to devote myself to motorcycles with a lot of time and few people, but it is no longer possible to propose similar times. I attended the online presentation of the 890 Duke last week and it was an absolute disappointment, I believe that no motorcycle manufacturer can be able to do truly engaging online events, not even Ducati which is a step ahead compared to other houses. The coldness of detaching a monitor will never bring back the involvement of being in person to feel the scent of feeling the visual emotion and unfortunately this technological race towards the increasingly virtual will not help us in returning to the dear and old interpersonal relationships, not even after this Corona Virus emergency passes, in fact, I am of the opinion that it will distance us even further from each other in a growing climate of mutual distrust. Sorry for all operators in the Fairs sectors, exhibition workers, girls picture, press agents who will see their work collapse as for many other categories, and the economic aftermath will be devastating. I personally will resume riding and breathe that air of freedom that only this passion of ours can give, the big Motorcycle houses know perfectly how to do the math in their pockets and they know very well what to cut to save the salvable and this occasion is a clear example of company policies, the audience is relatively uninterested. Probably a lot more young people “social” of those of my generation will suffer much less this new course, I certainly regret this change of direction but I am fortunate to be able to remember with extreme pleasure of that time when it was wonderful to wait at the entrance to the Milan Fair. Ciao Nicola.
