When to change the bike?

When to change bikes? It sounds like an easy question but maybe it isn't, so I sent it to motorcyclists with different experience and…

When it's time to change bikes? How to understand and choose the right moment? This is one of the (tanti) existential dilemmas that dot the life of a motorcyclist. Curiously, this question almost always arises in this period of the year: in winter.

I brought this question to four friends with very different backgrounds: Federico in art Ice, Stefano aka Ste89, Edoardo or Bikes4Eddie and finally Saturday of the canal Ilmototismismoitaliano.

They are bikers with very different experiences and also different ages. I felt they could be representative for this although clearly not exhaustive. Their answer to the seeming simple question “When to change the bike” I needed it as a starting point for reflection, to understand if they too had noticed some recurring factors at the time of the change as it happened to me.

For example, I have also bought and sold very different motorbikes and at different times of my life, therefore with different needs, not only for changed aesthetic tastes.. Yet the time in which I made the decision to part with him was more or less always the same.

Only the last one, the KTM 990 Adventure, I prevaricated more. The awareness that this is a special bike that is still difficult was certainly weighing (if not impossible…) replaceable on the second-hand market and at similar figures. Ah Si, I forgot, I've always bought used motorcycles. If we exclude my Piaggio NRG scooter 50 given to me by my brand new family, the two wheels that I bought were always second if not third hand.

I hope this simple “group therapy” on when changing the bike can help you or even simply for pleasure. If you'd like to let me know how you understand when it's time for you to change bikes, write it in the comments to the video on YouTube.

See you next time. In the meantime I remind you how to follow the friends who participated in this video:
