Dunlop Trailmax Meridian is the new reference tire for maxi adventures?

These days I had plans to try and review the Dunlop Trailmax Meridian, the tire that Dunlop introduced to the range last year for the maxi adventure come BMW GS, Honda Africa Twin, KTM Super Adventure, Moto Guzzi V85TT and so on. More simply what you see in the photo below:

Unfortunately, as we all know, the coronavirus lockdown prevents us from grinding the road, so while not being able to try it I took the opportunity to make as accurate a description of this new one as possible (according to the manufacturer's claims) promising gum. That, when we get back on the bike and we can try it, we will certainly have some more elements to evaluate it.

As the name implies it is a Trailmax, or of a trail product, thought as said for the Adventure segment and for cover long distances on mixed terrain asphalt and off. You can already guess from a first glance at the tread a predilection for asphalt

So if you are looking for a tire to go on gravel roads, you are on the right product. If it is to get into the woods it is not a good thing.

To understand each other and stay at home, Dunlop is a little more road than the Trailmax and a little more off-road than the Trailsmart Max which was the reference for big adventure so far.

He stands there in the middle and tries to answer all the requests of a client that is really difficult to satisfy.

An unconventional guy who has a heavy bike, often charged, with so much torque, he would like to follow the motard on the hairpin bends, to sports on the highway and to enduro on the dirt road ... And don't change tires before having done three laps of the globe. These are the target bikes:

Then, trying to be realistic, the ambitious goal is to combine versatility of use, high mileage and good grip in all conditions.

Thanks to graziella you will tell me, it's what we all want from a tire dedicated to long journeys. But we've all learned that the further it goes, the less the grip is, perlomeno, there is an important decay of the grip after a first consumption.

Dunlop claims that this is not the case for Meridian. But how she would have done it? What is the recipe?

In the video I tried to give an answer based on the elements made available obviously by the manufacturer. Good vision!

Below instead the measures communicated by Dunlop:

Manufacturer's info and technical sheet can be found at this link: www.dunlop.eu

And don't forget to look too my video on the new Dunlop Mutant.

I am convinced that an informed motorcyclist is a more aware motorcyclist and in his own small way he will act for a better world. For this reason, the articles and videos that I publish on Motoreetto.it are accessible to everyone and without advertising banners because the information must be open and shared.
I am doing it independently and it is allowed by the people who have decided to join my CLAN.
It would be fantastic if you also considered being part of it.
