These IFFM masks are also good on motorcycles

I tried the IFFM masks in technical knitting, seamless and breathable. They will not work miracles, but they are also very comfortable on motorcycles and with glasses and above all they are washable. Here all the details

Italy country of saints, poets, navigators, ball coaches e – for two months now – mask experts!

Jokes aside masks have entered our lives strongly together with the coronavirus and continue to represent the first and simplest tool we have to protect ourselves, but above all to protect others.

We have all experienced how disposable masks are not that great. The surgical ones are light but after a while they get wet and dirty and should be changed continuously. Most of the others that were trimmed during the emergency are of low quality and in any case do not represent an ideal solution as they are not breathable or even washable.

Given the scarcity of products on the market – which personally surprised me too – many have engineered. Among the companies that have seized this new opportunity there is Idealmaglia, Vicenza-based company that has been operating in the textile industry for twenty-five years and which has put on the market IFFM, or the Italian Fashion Face Mask.

What are IFFM masks?

The IFFM they are nothing but facial masks washable and reusable made starting from yarns technicians with a three-dimensional shape. In simple words they are light masks, breathable, washable, without seams and available with various designs. They can also be customized, but of this I speak later.

Al momento they are not recognized as PPE, or individual protection device, but between the two layers that compose them there is a pocket in which it is already possible to insert an additional filter.

How they are made?

As anticipated, they have two layers of breathable technical mesh and have passages for humidity. They then have two rubber bands to be inserted behind the ears, but there is also the version with the classic laces to tie.

Their shape already follows the course of the face, but you can tighten and widen the metal nose pad who, being in the shirts, it is not of any nuisance. They are shipped in a sealed envelope already sanitized and ready for use.

How to use them?

They are used as normal masks, with the same hygiene precautions, but compared to these it is evident that they have two enormous advantages.

The first is that I am more comfortable being knitted and being breathable. The second is that they are washable therefore reusable if not indefinitely at least a good number of times before deteriorating.

Specifically, the company recommends washing them by hand and at less than 30 ° and ensures that they hold at least a hundred washes.

As I found myself with IFFM masks?

As always, before expressing myself on a product, I like to try it, get your hands on it and never like it does in this case. I must say that with these IFFM masks I found myself even better than expected.

I was immediately worried that the shirt would be a nuisance on the skin or in any case not very breathable. Needless to delude oneself: a face mask is still a face mask. You also use them to do sports: I tried to run and the difference compared to a disposable one is colossal even if it cannot be said that it is pleasant. By bicycle, if we are not making great efforts, they are not particularly annoying.

But it is in motion that I found them very comfortable. Ok, you will tell me, what's the use of having the mask on?

To tell the truth, I think it serves for at least a couple of good reasons.

The first is that we already have it on when we stop, so we don't run the risk of having to look for it in our pocket. The second is that it protects us from a good part of the particles that circulate in the air.

I have long been used to having the tubular or the bandana pulled over my face, especially when I'm in town, now I can wear the mask which is beautiful and stable and something more definitely filters.

Wear it with a helmet, the glasses and even the tube was not uncomfortable. It sure is a bit’ too much stuff, we agree, but it is not a torture. Compared to the other masks, I had a less fogging effect on the lenses precisely because I can adjust them on the nose.

What I liked?

  • Comfort even on motorcycles and even with glasses
  • Lightness
  • practicality

What I didn't like?

  • Price slightly higher than expected (I am not saying that it is not justified by quality)
  • In the pocket it gets dirty and the case is not supplied, but sold separately

How to get them?

They can be purchased directly on the site www.iffm.it upon which, plus all the relevant information, you can choose between different models and sizes for both men and women and children. Model “Sport” that I chose costs 13 Euro per piece and is shipped with a minimum of two masks also in different sizes and colors.

I also tried to customize one with my logo and the company was kind enough to send me a sample. In this case the minimum number to be ordered is 21 pieces.

For everyone who follows this blog, the company has decided to recognize one sconto. To obtain it, simply enter the code zff45rqkmotoreetto at the time of purchase.

In the meantime, I do order more? Who wants the mask of Motoreetto? Write to me and let me know.

I am convinced that an informed motorcyclist is a more aware motorcyclist and in his own small way he will act for a better world. For this reason, the articles and videos that I publish on Motoreetto.it are accessible to everyone and without advertising banners because the information must be open and shared.
I am doing it independently and it is allowed by the people who have decided to join my CLAN.
It would be fantastic if you also considered being part of it.
